Jean Restaurant at Klein Roosboom Boutique Wine Farm
Today we had the privilege of visiting Jéan Restaurant at Klein Roosboom Boutique Wine Farm which reopened after being closed due to renovations for more than a year. It is situated in the Durbanville Wine Valley and owned by winemaker Karin de Villiers.

A Leafy Entrance
It is situated in the same spot as the previous Klein Roosboom Restaurant, but has been totally revamped and is now a modern structure which takes your breath away. The interior is elegant but simple – perfect for a lovely lunch and we can imagine lazy summer evenings, enjoying dinner on the patio which overlooks the vineyards.

Interior
Friendly waitrons were ready to assist us and after having a look at the beautiful menus, we were ready for dinner. Deon ordered Klein Roosboom Merlot, which had a hint of berries.

Table Decorations
For our main meals, Deon decided on Woodfired Braised Rabbit and Pancetta Pappardelle with Burnt Onions and Crispy Kale. My choice was Pan Seared Sea Bass with Beluga Lentil and Guanciale Cassoulet, Asparagus and West Coast Mussels. Both meals were beautifully presented and delicious.

Sea Bass
As always, we shared the dessert. It was – wait for it – Lemongrass and Thyme Crème Brûlée with Honey Grilled Pears and Rose Petal Biscotti. Again, the presentation was beautiful, and I would definitely not share next time.

Dessert
We will visit this delightful restaurant again in the future – maybe we will try their Sunday lunch next time. I will then start with the Baked Pear and Cinnamon Pudding with…
