We visited this restaurant last year with a guest from Port Elizabeth and when Deon asked if I could suggest a restaurant for lunch last Friday, I remembered the awesome view at Flavours Restaurant, which is situated outside Stellenbosch. Flavours is part of the Devon Valley Hotel. We ordered tapas upon our first visit, which was very good. As it was a very hot day, it thought that it would be lovely to sit outside again and admire the view.
We were seated at a table from where we had a beautiful view over the valley. We were one of two couples at the restaurant and the atmosphere was very tranquil. A fire was burning in the pizza oven, unfortunately nobody ordered pizza. Deon ordered Braised Lamb Shank Tagine which was lamb cooked in a chermoula paste, red wine jus, baby onions, mushrooms and served with pistachio couscous. My choice was Chicken breast with prosciutto shavings and parmesan cream served with potato gnocchi. The lamb and the chicken were slightly overcooked, but then, we came for the view. And the view did not disappoint.
The highlight of the lunch was the dessert which we shared. It was a beautiful trio of Crème Brûlée, Ice-cream and Shortbread.
