Beleza Restaurant
We had visitors (my brother Johan and his wife Paula) for a couple of days and on the Friday of their visit, we decided to have lunch at a Greek tavern in Hout Bay, called Spiros.

Situated at the corner of Kloof Street and Burnside Road
However, on our way to Hout Bay, while waiting at a robot in Tamboerskloof, Deon spotted a Portuguese Restaurant in Kloof Street, Beleza (“beautiful” in Portuguese), and on the spur of the moment we decided that we would have lunch at the quaint corner restaurant. It was time to sample Portuguese food. There is a patio, but we chose to sit inside as it was chilly outside. There is a wood fire for very cold days. An antique clothing shop is also part of the restaurant.

The service was very good and it was not long before our meals arrived. Johan was very happy with his Bistecca Italliano rump steak which was topped with buffalo mozzarella and parma ham, served with sautéed potatoes. According to Johan it was a very tender steak. I had a very rich but tasty Pasta Alfredo and Paula enjoyed her pizza with mozzarella and rocket. Deon ordered the Lisbon curry, which was prawns and mussels with savoury rice, almost like a paella.

We finished off the meal with coffee and headed back home. It was a pleasant afternoon in a very good restaurant, watching the traffic go by in Kloof Street. And yes, Spiros is definitely on our to do list when Johan and Paula visit us again.
