A visit to Kalk Bay and Kirstenbosch
Our friend from France is visiting us and we decided to spend the day in Kalk Bay and after that we would go to Kirstenbosch.
It was a glorious, sunny spring day and early morning we headed to Kalk Bay. Deon and I have visited this beautiful bay several times previously, but it was again a worthwhile visit. What a beautiful place this is. There are interesting little antique shops, glamorous clothing shops; coffee shops; restaurants; interesting alleys and of course, the colourful harbour. We also saw whales close to the beach.
We stumbled upon a quaint restaurant, called From Cape to Cuba, where we enjoyed good food. Deon ordered Calamari with Spicy Rice and the rest of the company ordered Fish and Chips – the fish fried in a crisp batter. The restaurant is colourful, with many crystal chandeliers; colourful furniture; Cuban music, waitresses dressed in colourful skirts and flowers in the hair – a must to see.
Then we were off to Kirstenbosch, the most beautiful garden in Africa where we even braved the Tree Canopy Walkway. It was a most enjoyable day.
