Helena’s Restaurant
Looking for an excellent restaurant in Stellenbosch? Try Helena’s Restaurant, part of the Coopmanhuijs Boutique Hotel and Spa at 33 Church Street. Executive Chef Nadia Roux is definitely an asset, as her food is beautifully presented as well as excellently prepared.
Yes, it was Friday again and after working during the morning, we drove to Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital where Deon had to do something and then we decided to visit our favourite town in the Western Cape (rather one of our favourites), of course Stellenbosch.
We booked a table at Helena’s and were seated on the patio when we arrived. The weather was perfect and we had a very enjoyable afternoon while watching people leisurely walking down the street and enjoying our lunch. A friendly waitron, good food, fabulous weather and Stellenbosch, what more do you need for a perfect day! For lunch, Deon decided on the line fish of the day, which was Kabeljou served with veggies and a prawn aioli and I ordered the healthy chicken salad. For dessert, we shared a slice of cheesecake and Deon had to have some coffee.
Then we went for a scenic drive via Pniel and then on to Franschhoek where we wanted to take a drive down memory lane. We often speak about the Swiss Farm Excelsior, a hotel where both of us had awesome scones and tea many years ago. But today there is a huge new hotel with many chalets and it is now called the Three Cities, Franschhoek Hotel and Spa. No Swiss Farm, but we are left with fond memories.
