Chocolate Cake
This is a Nigella Lawson old fashioned chocolate cake recipe which I have adapted slightly. It is quick and easy to make.
Ingredients
1 cup plain flour
1 cup caster sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
⅓ cup best-quality cocoa powder
175 grams soft unsalted butter
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
150 ml crème fraiche
Method
Heat the oven to 180⁰C.
Butter a baking tin.
Sift the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and cocoa powder.
Mix all the ingredients together in a food processor until you have a smooth batter.
I add a tablespoon of milk if the batter is too thick.
Pour the batter, with the help of a rubber spatula, into the prepared baking tin.
Bake for about 25 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.
Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before turning it out of the tin.
If there are cracks, it will be easily covered with icing later.
Use caramel condensed milk and cream to decorate.
Add edible flowers if you want to impress someone.
